Memphis Grizzlies’ rookies O.J. Mayo and Marc Gasol have joined NBA rookies, including Michael Beasley and JaVale McGee, in donating an autographed game jersey for the inaugural Rookie Relief for St. Jude eBay auction benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, one of the world’s premier pediatric cancer research centers. Grizzlies’ fans can log onto to http://www.rookierelief.com/ for a link to the auction and a complete listing of jerseys available for bid through November 20.

In addition, former #1 draft picks and other rookies have donated jerseys in support of their league teammates. Veteran jerseys available for bid include Yao Ming, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Dirk Nowitzki and Marc’s brother, Pau Gasol. Minnesota Timberwolves’ rookie Kevin Love is the Rookie Relief for St. Jude ambassador with a $12,500 commitment.

The Rookie Relief for St. Jude auction is a fundraising promotion created out of the partnership between the NBA Summer League and St. Jude. The auction will be the cornerstone of an annual fundraising program featuring top NBA rookies. The official announcement of the partnership was made during the NBA Summer League’s Tip-Off Reception on July 10 in Las Vegas.

It is always nice to see the charitable giving and philanthropy from the NBA players and organization that we cover.

The 4th Edition of the Blogger Power Rankings are up now on True Blue Jazz, the newest addition to the Bloguin Network and the #1 rated Utah Jazz blog on the internet.  The Lakers and Celtics are still 1-2 this week, but the Cavaliers and Pistons are putting some pressure on them.  The Grizzlies understandably dropped a few spots after their losing streak, but just how far?  You'll have to click the link to find out.

 The All-Starbury Movement is picking up steam, as others have joined in.  This is surely a sign of the impending apocalypse.  I wonder if I'll be held responsible for that?  If I am, then I'm taking 2nd Round Reach down with me, since they have provided us with a formal statement of purpose.  Truly outstanding work.  Hopefully Stern will send his henchmen after them first so that I can make a discreet getaway.

Via TheCabin.net:  The youth of Conway, Arkansas will be sporting Grizzlies gear this year, as well as being the home of a basketball clinic in January.
